Capathia Jenkins Stars in SFS Tribute to Gershwin

The legendary American composer, George Gershwin, gets his due on Tuesday, July 3 at Davies Symphony Hall when the San Francisco Symphony stages its “Salute to Gershwin.”

Jazz and American Songbook singer Capathia Jenkins is the featured artist along with award-winning pianist Andrew von Oeyen.

Edwin Outwater conducts.

“Mr. Outwater approached me for this role, and I was delighted to know that I as returning to San Francisco,” says Ms. Jenkins in an interview with Cultural Currents.

“I know how demanding your city’s audience are, but we can’t miss with this program of jazz standars and show classics…c’mon, it Gershwin. We are going to have a blast!”

Gershwin classics, include “Summertime,” “Fascinatin’ Rhythm,” An American in Paris, and his spectacular magnum opus, Rhapsody in Blue.
