Each year on June 25, the maritime industry honors seafarers — the essential workforce behind global trade.
Their skill in navigating, maintaining and operating cargo ships connects our region to international markets and opportunities.
To honor Day of the Seafarer 2025, the maritime community is amplifying a zero tolerance policy for harassment at sea. Day of the Seafarer is beyond a celebration; it’s a call to action for a safer and inclusive maritime culture.
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) recently launched an interactive world map, providing policies, support systems and reporting mechanisms worldwide to cultivate a harassment free environment. IMO encourages seafarers around the world to use this valuable tool to cultivate an inclusive maritime community.
According to the Port of Redwood City:
“Together, let’s raise awareness about the obstacles our mighty seafarers face and support initiatives that encourage a safer maritime culture.”
