SF Symphony to Stage a “Swan Song” for its Music Director

The San Francisco Symphony will celebrate its 2024-25 season with an opening Gala on September 25th.
The ambitious program features pianist Lang Lang.
The outgoing SFS music director, Esa-Pekka Salonen, will conduct selections of Sergei Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet throughout the Opening Gala program.
Last March, Salonen announced that he would be leaving the San Francisco Symphony when his contract expires in 2025, stating that “I do not share the same goals for the future of the institution as the Board of Governors does.”
